Hi,
If you’ve been here before, not only is this a complete site redesign, but this is a new “Afterword”.
I wrote this sometime around 2007-2008 when I was developing God(tm). I haven’t drawn in a long time and was trying to get the rust off my hands. It was meant to be a small side story, but I thought there was something about it that screamed out “me first!”
I am not Buddhist. This comic has as much Dharma as a Wu-Tang Clan Album or a Kung Fu flick. This was written with a love and respect for the Buddhist tradition. I might have a good understanding of Asian Art and Buddhist symbolism but at the time, I just meditated every now and then. I will admit, it is an expression of my personal spirituality, of my Gnosis, but this is not an introduction to Buddhism.
I’ve seen what some of you have said on the message boards. Thank you for your compliments. When I run into them, I’m like “People are still reading this?” It makes me think of what I’ll write next and hopefully you’ll see more of our unnamed Demon friend (he actually has a name) and a re-vamp of God(tm).
Since I’ve written and drawn this, I have included some Buddhist practices in my life. This comic isn’t an introduction to Buddhism, but if you want one, all you have to do is search Youtube for people in robes giving lectures. There are plenty out there from plenty of different traditions. But if they speak your language and come from the same country you did, they’ll probably make more sense than reading books by the Dalai Lama.
This comic has been republished in The Gnostic issue 3. Gnostic Christianity has often been compared to Buddhism, so much so that at one point, scholars thought Buddhism was a direct influence on the religion.
I thought that was worth mentioning.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed. Hopefully, by the time you read this, when you click “next” the second chapter will be up.
